My Inital Ideas.

My Magazine is for the emo, goth, hardcore scenes kids as there are not many magazine out for them and i thought that it would make in the magazine world. I will take many influences for Kerrang, Rock Sound and Metal Hammer these magazine cove, but try not to copy them completely.

Looking back at your preliminary task (the college magazine task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

College Magazine:

Music Magazine:

I think i have learnt alot over the last couple of months with photoshop and the whole process of making a magazine as you can see from the top image, which are my college magazine and then look at my music magazine i have learnt alot more for the way that a magazine is made and published and even distributed to the readers. when i first made my college magazine we weren't given alot to go by, so i just made the magazine from looking at another college magazine, i think that this magazine is good but i could, of done alot better if our teacher had let us done research like in our music magazine, also with the college magazine you didn't have to think about the target audience, or even what to put in the magazine, so with the music magazine it challenged me more on Photoshop for example making the writing be bold and also making the image stand out. the double page spread was my biggest challenge in this whole project because we had to fit all out text in and add "pull quotes", and making sure everything fitted.
so i think i have learnt alot from going from my preliminary to my music magazine, the main thing i have learnt is the process on how the magazine are made and the sections on photoshop.
i did alot of things different with my music magazine to my college magazine for example we got to do audience research,which helped us know what are target audience wanted, where with the college magazine you don't know whether people would read it or not. also with this magazine we go more freedom and we go to plan and design everything. with my music magazine we also got more time to plan and make the magazine.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

 These are the the three main programmes that i used in the making of my college magazine.

Blogger is the website we used to post all of our blog onto to show the stages of each process of the magazine from the ideas, to the final products. The advantages of blogger are that it easy and simple to use, you can also go back and edit your blogs if you forget to add things you have forgotten and because it online you can access it at home. The only disadvantage is that everyone can see it and maybe even steal your work, but apart from that i think it is a very good website to use.

Flickr is another website that we used to make our music magazine. we used this website to add our photos so we could analysis them using the add note tool. the advantages of using this website is that its free and also easy to use like blogger, the disadvantages of this website are that there was always a problem adding photos onto the website.

The third programme is Photoshop this programme we used to make our music magazine, we used this programme to make the front cover, double page spread and also the contents page. the advantages of this programme is that he helps creates whatever you need and also some part are pretty easy to use. the disadvantages are some parts are hard to use and its not free and the cost of Photoshop is expensive. though i do reccomend  other people to use, because it is fun and easy and you can make some awesome things.




i also used camera to take my images and a website called funky monkey to create are questionnaires for are target audience and also for the information that we needed to create are magazine.
i perfered doing my essay on here as we could add image and the links we needed where as if we had to do on word or on paper it would of been alot harder to add everything in that we need to get a higher grade. the only bad thing about doing this on the internet is that people who don't have internet at home would find it hard to make the changes and keep there blog at a high grade.

How did you attract/address your audience?

I addressed my audience by using the colours, sticking to black, white, pink and yellow these colours will appeal to my target audience, for example black and white would be for the Goths, Pink and Yellow for Scene Kids. I Also used bright colours to attract people to my magazine.


The style of writting would appeal to them as well, because i have used a style that would get there attention and appeal to them also i asked my friends what style would most appeal to them and they suggest big, clear and easy to read, so i went for the ransom style font.


Adding the bands that would appeal to them more than the other bands for example Bring Me The Horizon, Eyes Set To Kill, 30 Seconds To Mars and Avenged Sevenfold. I also started to add more bands that i thought that my target audience might like for example Hung Drawn And Quarted and Mastema, which both are local bands that are quite popular in the local area, so i knew that people would be interested in them. 


I also think that i have attracted and addressed my audience my using a style thats is similar magazine that they are used to and i know they like, Kerrang and Metal Hammer are the two magazine covers that i used to help make my magazine more popular. I think another way that i addressed and attracted my audience is with the double page spread, giving them information about a band they will like and also adding image from there gigs.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

Theses are the main groups for my Target Audience: they all are suitable for my music magazine because they like the music i have featured in my magazine, also i took the ideas of my mates from college and home, because they are all into this type of music. I knew from the start of the project what my music magazine was going to cover because this genre is covered in other music magazines but not fully and also there is a section that they don't cover so i thought i would

i am sure that many of my target audience would have from £10 - £30 a week as they will be at college or even working so the money could vary.
My target audience busy a vary of things from clothes to booze, jewellery to tattoos and even piercings. So it really depends on how much they have and what they want to with it.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

When it comes to distributing my music magazine there are alot to choose from major company's like IPC Media who produce NME, they are one of the biggest multinational media companies in the world. Then there is Bauer which is another Major distributing company who is one of the largest privately owned publisher in Europe. Dennis is a medium sized 
publisher. 

But i have chosen IPC media with there disturbing help of MarketForce as there is not a magazine similar to mine which they distrubute, But IPC does disturbutes NME but my magazine is different to NME so it should be okay. Another reason i have chosen IPC is because Bauer supports Kerrang and Kerrang is similar to mine in ways of bands layout as i used it for influences on my own magazine so going with Bauer would of been a bad idea, also there would be conflict with out magazines. Also i know now that have chosen a big publiser that i will lose some of my editorial independence but i think this will help my boost my profits and also help my magazine get out what my target audience want i think this will be good for my magazine as they will also help me reach what i need to make this a successful magazine.

i have also decided that if my magazine is a success then i will try get it online and also produce a radio station so my target audience to keep up with the music they like and not have to worry about if they have money or not.
